What programming language was used for Pokemon?

There are thousands of programming languages. Which was used for Pokemon games?

Most Nintendo DS games the use C or C++ programming language, including Pokemon. Programming a Nintendo game usually costs money, however there are free variants. It usually also requires you to understand the language making this all the worse. I will link useful links and my source when I am on my PC

Different programming languages have been used for different Pokemon games, but I think that in the Gameboy Pokemon Games the C code was used. I'll edit this if I find out the DS/3DS one. :D
