Is there a way to count steps in HG SS?

Is there an item that counts steps like a pedometer like the one poketch app in Diamond, Pearl and Platinum in HeartGold and SoulSilver?

Nope, there's nothing like that.

Although if you're happy to waste money you could use repels. Super Repel (which is the most economical) works for 200 steps, so when the game tells you it wore off, you know you've moved 200 steps and can put more on.

Obviously that won't help you if you need to catch Pokemon in that time for whatever reason. And it's a big hassle. Not sure why you need to count steps anyway...?
