Does going on Roller Skate rails count as steps?

In X and Y, there were rails around the region you could go on with the Roller Skates. Do they count as steps towards hatching Eggs?

Sorry, the answer I posted earlier was incorrect. For hatching eggs, Skating in rails won't help you.

I've recently tried doing so but failed in it!!!

I asked specifically about the rails you are able to skate on, not Roller Skates counting in general.

As you're not technically in control of your motion on the rails, I'm wondering if they still count as steps. It's different from regular roller skating, as you can control your motion then.
