No "migrate Pokemon" option shows up when I try to transfer Pokemon from Firered to Diamond?

I have a DS Lite that I bought used. Both my games are US versions, and both were used that I bought from Gamestop. I have six Pokemon in the box in Firered, and I'm trying to migrate to my Diamond. But no option to migrate shows up when I go to my beginning screen on Diamond. I've tried cleaning my game and the DS recognizes the cartridge and I CAN play it, but it has no option to migrate. Do I need to get farther in Firered or something? How can I fix this?

Thank you, I didn't see that when I first searched. I figured out the issue anyway, it was a VERY realistic looking fake copy. I thought I did everything right but the counterfeit makers are getting better and better . :(
