If you have a good competitive moveset for Gourgeist, post an answer below and upvote the best ones. Movesets for its pre-evolutions, if any, can also be shared on this thread.

Be sure to include full set details in your post, e.g. items, abilities, natures and EVs. Some detail, including the intended game mode for your set, is also appreciated. Access the full list of guidelines here.

Gourgeist Pokedex and learnset for reference.

Likely tier: UU.
Maybe even OU.
Would also say that likely tier is UU, but it may even be RU imo.
They ended up putting Super sized in UU, and the other sizes all in RU. (I think)

Small Form
Gen 7 ZU

Gourgeist-Small @ Life Orb
Ability: Pickup
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Seed Bomb
- Shadow Sneak
- Fire Blast
- Explosion / Rock Slide

Seed Bomb is STAB. Shadow Sneak is priority STAB. Fire Blast is to punish Avalugg and some physically defensive Pokemon switching in. Explosiom is for a last ditch effort. Rock Slide can be used for coverage against rock, fire, flying, and ice types.

Insomnia Gourgeist Set

Gourgeist @ Leftovers
Ability: Insomnia
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Naive / Jolly Nature
- Shadow Sneak
- Will-O-Wisp
- Power Whip
- Rock Slide

Alright so personally I had another set planned for this 'mon but uhm... it didn't work out cause I later found out it had hidden ability and so then I decided to go along with Insomina. But anyways this 'mon is not affected by yawn and has a good move pull. Shadow sneak is used a decent amount so I figure it isn't a bad choice here. And leftovers gets you some nice HP every turn.

Small Form
Gen 8 SS NU

Gourgeist-Small @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Frisk
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Poltergeist
- Power Whip
- Rock Slide
- Trick

Gourgeist-Small has a niche in SS NU of being a Pokemon that can outspeed and OHKO Sivally-Ground. It also makes for a revenge killer option as a Scarf Pokemon. Poltergeist and Power Whip are really strong STAB moves. Rock Slide allows you to deal super effective damage to Talonflame. Trick allows you to cripple defensive Pokemon. The ability on this set is Frisk so you can see what item a Pokemon is holding, as well as being able to know if a Pokemon is running no item.

A Specs Gourgeist?!! Yes, a Specs Gourgeist. This set can be used in either Gen 9 NatDex RU or Gen 9 NatDex Monotype.

Gourgeist-Small (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Frisk / Insomnia
Tera Type: Ghost / Fire / Fairy
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Energy Ball
- Flamethrower
- Moonblast
- Shadow Ball

Insomnia stops Sleep, and Frisk helps you to recognize items. I would recommend Frisk over Insomnia, though. Choice Specs boosts your Special Attack to fine levels. Tera Fire / Fairy can turn super-effective hits into resistances. Timid Nature gives you max Speed, and the 0 IVs in Attack minimizes Foul Play damage. Energy Ball and Shadow Ball are both STAB. Moonblast and Flamethrower are coverage.

You should put each set in different answers.
Tera is banned in the formats NatDex Monotype and NatDex RU btw.

Here's a slower, bulkier set that can be utilized in Trick Room.
> Gourgeist-Super (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Frisk
Tera Type: Ghost / Fire / Fairy
EVs: 120 Def / 252 SpA / 136 SpD
Modest / Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Atk 0 Spe
- Energy Ball
- Flamethrower
- Moonblast
- Shadow Ball

More EVs in SpD is because Gourgeist has lower SpD than Def. Modest is if you don't want to use Trick Room, and Quiet is if you do. 0 IVs in Atk is to minimize damage from Foul Play. 0 IVs in Speed is for TR. More explanation is in my other Specs set.
