Could I change the region on my 3DS and change the pattern of Vivillon I get?

So say my 3DS's region when I started the game was New York. I catch a Vivillon, and of course it would be Polar. Then, I change the region on my 3DS to Tokyo, Japan. Would it be a new pattern or would it still be Polar?

You could, but you would have to restart your game.

Once you start a save file while your settings are on a specific country, the game "remembers" that country, and you cant just simply change your region to get another pattern of Vivillon, you would have to start a new save file while your setting are set on the country you want.

Vivillon's wing pattern depends on the real-world geographic location set on the game the Pokémon was generated in. There are a total of 20 known patterns.
