How do you safely setup a sweeper?

Baton passing is a good, but it can easily be broken. What is a good and reliable Method?

Substitute works really well for setting up sweepers, like mega salamence for example. Here is a really good Mega Salamence set involving Substitute:

Salamence @ Salamencite
Trait: Moxie ---> Aerilate
Adamant Nature
EVs: 252 Atk, 252 Spe, 4 Def
-Substitute
-Dragon Dance
-Return
-Dragon Claw/Roost
