hey everybody! can someone please give me a good explanation as to why entei is not in OU?
his base stats are good, with 115 HP, 115 attack, 85 defense, 90 sp. attack, 75 sp. defense, and 100 speed. he has great bulk compared to most other fire types. most people have said that he has a bad movepool, but I disagree. tell me how this moveset is bad.
Entei @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 60 HP / 252 Atk / 196 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Sacred Fire
- ExtremeSpeed
- Iron Head
- Stone Edge

sacred fire is physical btw, and I can go life orb or choice band as well. this set leaves him with these stats:
HP: 386
Attack: 361
Defense: 206
Sp. Attack: 194
Sp. Defense: 186
Speed: 285

he is an incredible wall breaker and physical sweeper, especially in doubles, with a partner using follow me while I use sacred fire multiple times, crippling whole teams and killing at the same time.
someone please tell me how this is not OU! thank you!

Oh and while I'm at it, what about manaphy with tail glow? I get that manaphy doesn't have the best sweeping stats, but with tail glow on a rain team she becomes an amazing sweeper!

I think these might be some of the reasons why.

252 SpA Life Orb Latios Draco Meteor vs. 60 HP / 0 SpD Entei: 351-413 (90.9 - 106.9%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO

252+ Atk Mega Metagross Earthquake vs. 60 HP / 0 Def Entei: 314-370 (81.3 - 95.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

4 Atk Landorus-T Earthquake vs. 60 HP / 0 Def Entei: 342-404 (88.6 - 104.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

252+ Atk Choice Band Talonflame Brave Bird vs. 60 HP / 0 Def Entei: 270-318 (69.9 - 82.3%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

Entei gets one- or two-shotted by many of the common Pokemon in this tier. Azumarill, Mega Charizard X... the list could go on for a while. And while base 100 speed used to be good, so many fast Pokemon are around that Entei doesn't outspeed too much anymore.
TL ; DR Entei's base stats aren't as good as they used to be cuz new Megas.

As for Manaphy, it can be good IF it gets off a tail glow. By that time, Talonflame or Thundurus will have slaughtered it. And because weather was nerfed, weather teams in general are on the decline.

ok. I see your evidence. first off, I often use him as a lead to burn whatever they put out first, so that eliminates stealth rock damage most of the time. also, he could be great in a trick room with iron ball. half speed w/ 0 speed iv and regular damage from earthquake. and also, I use him on a tailwind, and he is incredible on tailwind teams, out-speeding many people. also, the point is that he burns them with sacred fire. what are the damage calculations for his sacred fire against mega metagross? assume most basic competitive ev's. he will OHKO talonflame with stone edge, as well as mega charizard y. idk what he can do with iron head against azumarill, but it is probably good. the problem with what you are saying is that he one or 2HKO's pretty much all of the Pokemon you just stated do the same to him, but he has a 50% chance to burn them with sacred fire, allowing him to survive their next attack. obviously, I'm not going to keep him in against bulky waters, but is terror for almost all physical sweepers.

You seem to be capitalizing on Sacred Fire's 50% Burn chance. However, 50% doesn't mean always. Also, special sweepers completely wreck him, because burns don't lower their attacking power. And even if you use him as a lead, that doesn't mean you won't have to switch out eventually. And 252+ Atk Entei Sacred Fire vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mega Metagross: 234-276 (77.7 - 91.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO. Also, 252+ Atk burned Mega Metagross Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Entei: 148-175 (39.8 - 47.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery. After he gets off one earthquake non-burned, he can get off another even if burned that will KO Entei.
