It gives the target priority in the next turn. Is this move useful for anything? I've been trying to think of situations but it just seems like you're just wasting a turn.

For example, if you use it on the opponent you could utilise a move like Payback which doubles power. But then you could just use Payback twice for the same effect.

In double battles you could use it on your team mate, but is there a real advantage to that?

I see no real point to it. Think of it as a filler move like Tackle and Splash. There might be some point with that double-battle strategy, but it is too weak to be of any use.

Moves like Payback seem like a good use for it, as things like Revenge just give Priority that turn. You can also use it for Mirror Move, but that's all that comes to mind right now.

I'd use it if the other Pokemon had Me First, but otherwise what trachy said is true.

It's probably a supportive move to be used in Double or Triple battles on a Pokemon on your own team. Other than that, the only things I can think of are Counter, Magic Coat, etc that require you take damage to do anything.

Well One use is maybe if you use this on an adjacent Ally who raised their stats beforehand and this poke who has After You has a destructive move like Selfdestruct or Earthquake but the ally Poke 2 is slower than Poke 1, just to let the ally switch in to some Ghost type or Earthquake avoider like Claydol or FLYING type with BATON PASS...
Or to some Extent... BIDE if you are expecting the Ally Poke 2 to defeat an early game opponent to flesh out the opponent's stronger Pokemon, allowing Bide to unleash late enough and not on the weaker opponent.
I think there are a few ways to use this...

so, there are a few reasons, but this is the main one I can think of
1. ability analytic
Boosts move power when the Pokémon moves last.

this is one of the most sensible reason I can think of.

The move "After you" is useful between the duo: a chlorophyll vileplume using after me on a drought torkoal using eruption (in SwSh). As long vileplume goes first, torkoal will be able to use a strong eruption before the opponent's Pokemon can attack.
