Okay sonny, I've been in my school caded corps for two years now, and I'll tell you something:

Never, NEVER have your hand in your pocket while saluting.

Juniper is not saluting here. she is waving, but not back and forth. She is merely lifting her hand to say hello.

Also, salutes are done with the right arm. she is using her left.
