Enigma berry didn't work?

Question

I had my darkrai hold an enigma berry in battle, but it was hit my focus blast and fainted. Shouldn't the enigma berry have healed him instead of him getting damage? or does it
1. heal after getting hit by the attack (so it doesn't erase the attack), or

2.does it only work if the Pokemon has lost HP that can be regenerated? (My darkrai had full HP)

Darkrai fainted

If a Pokemon faints, any berry (except the Jaboca Berry) will not come into effect as there is nothing more to be done by the berry.

Ok thanks, I thought the enigma berry nullified the attack and healed the pokemon. So what you're saying is that It heals the pokemon after taking the damage?
