i know technician activates before stab, but I was wondering if this is also the case for strong jaw or if it's the other way around. i'm just trying to figure out the actual power of hyper fang on my strong jaw gumshoos

I see no reason why Game Freak would ever change that. If Technician goes first, why should any other similar ability go afterward? What good would come of that? What purpose would that serve? There would be no need to really, o I doubt it's been changed.

I've always calculated Strong Jaw moves like Crunch/Fire Fang with SJ first. I mean, what difference does it make? It's a 50% boost both ways, so I see it coming out to 180 power.

My thinking was that technician factors first because stab would mess it up if the ability went last. Since that's not the case for strong jaw, the order doesn't really matter.
That's why. I knew there was a reason that I had thought of before, but I could not remember for the life of me. That's what you get when you start shiny hunting and do less competitive.
You said that if STAB went before technician, then technician won't work on some of the stronger STAB attacks, right? If that was right, then that's a reason for technician to go before STAB. Maybe technician is the exception, and all other abilities that power up attacks do that after STAB. It wouldn't affect damage either way, though.
That's been covered.
