Contrary to its classification in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, PokémonCenter.com and a Scholastic book on Legendary and Mythical Pokémon call Deoxys a Legendary Pokémon rather than a Mythical Pokémon.- Bulbapedia

So is the CURRENT classification of Deoxys a Mythical or Legendary based on official resources?

A Mythical Pokemon is basically a Pokemon tat can only be obtained by events and are not needed to complete the pokedex. Although in ORAS you need deoxys to complete Pokedex and you can catch it without event, in the remakes and in every other game it cant be caught and is unnecessary to complete the pokedex making it a mythical.

I used many sources but here is one: https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Mythical_Pokémon

Legendary Pokémon are generally obtainable in-game. Not every game, but they can be found. Mythical Pokémon like Arceus and Darkrai can only be obtained from events, which you would go to the nearest GameStop during the event to get one.

The answer to your question is Deoxys is a Legendary Pokémon
