Why did I see a sentret holding a berry?

i was in route 29 and I found a sentret holding berry is that random?

Yes sometimes wild Pokémon are holding items when you catch them.

This is particularly true for Pokemon with the ability Pickup.

Pickup only has an effect during battle and when the Pokemon is in a trainer's party after a battle. It has no effect on wild Pokemon encounters.

i found it out, sentret can hold a berry and have a chance of 2%
