I'm trying to get the twisted spoon, and my meowth is only level 16, so when I use the move thief on wild Abra, usually it only does ahout half damage to their HP, and then they teleport after. Will this still give me the opportunity to get the twisted spoon? Is there another method that works better?
Yes, Thief should still work, even if you don't KO the Pokemon with Thief, it Teleports away, etc. As long as your Pokemon isn't holding an item and the other Pokemon is, you should be able to steal their item.
