What happens when you lose to a Champion Challanger in Pokemon Sun/Moon/Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon?

Question

I searched for quite a while before asking this and didn't find anything.
What happens? Do they become the champion? Do you just black out and go to a Pokemon Center? Do they have to battle Hau/Kukui/someone else to become the champion? Does nothing happen?

You black out i'm pretty sure, can say from experience xd

Though i'm not 100% sure if i actually lost to them.

You simply black out and go to a Pokemon Center. If you return to the League, you are still the Champion, like the loss never happened.
