What happens when using Pollen Puff against Mirror Coat?

Question

Pollen Puff is a move that heals your ally Pokemon, but does damage if you use it against a opponents Pokemon. So what would happen if you use Pollen puff on your ally Pokemon and it uses Mirror Coat? Would it do double damage, double healing or fail because you did no damage? It's probably the last one but I was just wondering.

My logical assumption would be that Mirror Coat would fail, because Pollen Puff would not be doing any damage to trigger it.

The exception would be, of course, if you used Pollen Puff, and an opponent used a Special Attack against the Mirror Coat ally. But Mirror Coat would still target the aggressor, not the supporter, in that situation.
