Why won't Pokemon transporter work?

pokemon transporter recognizes my copy of Pokemon crystal but when I try to use it disconnects and takes me back to the start screen. I've tried multiple but it never works.

What Pokémon are you trying to transfer and to what game? Apparently you can't transfer some Pokémon that have some moves that they don't have in next generations.
Do you have the right version of Poké Transporter? You need version 1.4 for transporting something from Crystal.

Either your software is out of date or you used a coin case/clone glitch in crystal.
