Is it possible to transfer volt tackle on the Gigantamax Pikachu you receive I gotta game? (sword&shield)?

I’m familiar with the transfer method to give Pokémon an egg move, but for some reason when I try this transfer method with the Gigantamax Pikachu you receive in game it isn’t working at all. So I tried with two regular Pikachus (one female with volt tackle, one male without volt tackle and an empty slot) and that hasn’t worked either. Am I doing something wrong?

Technically, it is possible to transfer down Volt Tackle from a Gigantimax Pikachu. However, the Pikachu that is being used for breeding must hold a light ball. Without it, Volt Tackle remains an inaccessible egg move.

If you're unsure where to get the light ball, it can only be obtained on Pikachus on Route 4. It is a 5% chance, so I'd recommend using Compound Eyes or Frisk, then Thief to secure the item once it is found.
