Does Z-Moves affected by Abilities that alter damage taken?

I watched the Pokemon 2018 Episode 77 Preview. And Ash is going to use his Z-Ring (finally) against the Sunyshore City Gym Leader Volkner. Ash will use his Pikashunium Z against his Rematch with him.
That got me thinking: Does Z-Moves affected by Abilities that alter damage taken? For Example Motor Drive, Lightning Rod or Water Absorb?

I think protection moves are the only things that can completely prevent regular moves but cannot prevent Z-moves. Z-moves should still have no effect if the target has an immunity caused by types or abilities.
