Can Perish Song reset the timer if used twice?

This has been bugging me for a while since I want to use a set that requires Perish Song (Baton Pass counter) and I want to know if it resets the death counter.

No, if Perish Song is used twice, the move will fail when used a second time, and the affects of Perish Song will still linger on.
