What is the most efficient way to increase friendship in Pokemon Crystal?

I’ve been playing Pokemon Crystal recently, and I am trying to evolve my Golbat into a Crobat. However, this has been taking a while, and I am wondering if I’m doing something wrong. I’ve searched the internet for answers on the best way, but it gives me different results and some of them don’t help much. So, if you happen to know a great way to increase friendship, please respond.

If you're already seen https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Friendship#Generation_II then you're probably not doing anything wrong. It just takes that long to reach 220 friendship, particularly in games where EV reducing berries are not an option.

Crystal has a few ways to raise a Pokemon's friendship.

Of the methods in that article, I would recommend grooming and leveling up. Vitamins cost more money, and the other methods are less effective.
