e.g from what I know, the Pomeg Berry comes from the fruit pomegranate

This is pretty trivial. Considering there are 80 berries that have been created since Gen 3, (before then berries worked and were named differently,) this would be ridiculous to answer
Well, some of them are obvious judging by their name, appearance or use. For example, the Pomeg obviously comes from the pomegranate and is shaped as a pomegranate. And so is the Sitrus Berry, Cheri Berry and others.
