I'm trying to find a female Salandit in Scarlet and Violet but I haven't seen any yet...I know the small female-male ratio, but are there any ways to identify salandit genders without initiating battle every time? Like a smaller neck tie-thing?

As you approach, you can hold the left trigger to focus in close.  if it's a Pokemon you've encountered before, it gives you the name and also the gender of the Pokemon, if it has one.
Super late but when I use ZL it doesn't show me the gender just the name and if I've caught it before.

Generation VII is the only generation that did not introduce any Pokémon that have gender differences. However, it did introduce a Pokémon that can only evolve if it is a specific gender (only female Salandit can evolve into Salazzle) and a new gender difference for Eevee that was exclusive to the player's partner Eevee.

Short answer:

No.

In Scarlet and Violet (as the comment above suggested), you can lock onto a mon by pressing the ZL button on your Switch. Also, it'll show you the gender of the mon if it has one.

As you already know, Salandit has a gender ratio of 7 males to 1 female. Just keep at it and you'll eventually find your female Salandit.

So, you can just lock onto a mon (IF YOU HAVE ALREADY CAUGHT IT) to determine its gender without initiating a battle.
Why does the answer say "no" then explain a way it is possible?
He asked if there are ways of identifying the gender of Salandit. There are none.
The ZL feature sounds perfect for OP's purposes. I don't understand why the lack of a design difference means "no" should be in big bold letters.
"There is no difference between male Salandit and female Salandit" is what I'm trying to say.
just pray you don't find a shiny male
