Why won't Salvatore give Galarian Meowth after completing language classes?

I did the 6 languages classes and talked to Professor Salvatore but he did not give me a galarian meowth, the game simply said “you became closer with Professor Salvatore!” How can I fix this/get the galarian meowth?

After completing the language finals, you must help Salvatore with an injured Pawmi that enters the academy. After this, you will get a Galarian Meowth for helping (source). Or you can trade with someone that has a Galarian Meowth.
