You cannot change the nickname of a pokemon unless you are the "original owner" of the pokemon

Even if both your PLA and S/V save files are on the same nintendo switch user profile the trainer IDs will be different and it's the trainer ID that the game checks to determine if you are the "original owner" or not
no problems now...

i sent them back to paldea & galar to nickname them & now they are back home in hisui & they have their nicknames :D

In Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu!, Let's Go, Eevee!, Legends: Arceus, Scarlet, and Violet, a Pokémon can be given a nickname or have its nickname changed at any time on its status screen.

Nickname (Bulbapedia)

No site I've looked at is giving me a clear answer on whether you can nickname Pokemon you didn't catch. You might want to check that the option is appearing for other Pokemon that you caught yourself.
i can nickname the other pokemon i caught in the pasture...

but thing is.... i brought over my team pokemon from paldea & galar to home to hisui....

could that be why?
In previous generations, you were unable to nickname Pokemon that your character isn't the Original Trainer of. While this has been slightly changed in SwSh and SV, Bulbapedia doesn't mention anything about PLA. It's possible that Legends: Arceus similarly doesn't allow you to name Pokemon not caught on that save file.
Are the Pokemon you brought over nicknamed? I haven't played PLA and I don't know how nicknaming works there but that could possibly be why.
@~Whiteøut~

no, not yet....    maybe i should have...

maybe i should try & put them back in paldea & galar... & then try nicknaming them & then transfer them back to hisui again.... maybe that'd work....

i should note that they're the baby that i bred from the porygon that i brought over from hisui to galar
& the babies of the hisuian typhlosion, hisuian samurott, hisuian decidueye, alpha gardevoir & normal... i think yanma that i bred from paldea...

As of Gen 8, any Pokemon traded or transferred from another game that does not have a nickname will be allowed to have it's nickname changed, once. Pokemon from other countries who's name changes because of language will also not be able to be nicknamed.

If your Pokemon have not been nicknamed and I presume are the same language then they should be able to be nicknamed.

Worth noting you can only do that once, as it will then be considered a traded nicknamed Pokemon.
