Overcoming the Oak’s Parcel Glitch in Yellow?

Question

I just got a Yellow cartridge with all 151 Pokémon, but it is also a brand new file right at the start of the game. Thus, when I try to deliver Oak’s Parcel, I encounter the glitch where it acts as though I already have a Pokédex and am unable to progress. Does anyone know how to overcome this glitch, without simply starting a new game? I planned to transfer some of these Pokémon to my Gold save file via Stadium 2, so I really don’t want to lose them. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you!

How do you have 151 Pokemon already? Through hacking?

I got the cartridge (it is authentic, I did all the checks) off eBay, and I’m honestly not sure how the guy who I bought it from did it. He sells a lot of Pokémon carts with filled Pokédexes and said that if I returned it to him he could fix it and send it back. Not sure how he plans to do so, but we’ll see!
