So apparently it used to be 8,100 something, but now it’s… halved? A little less than that? When did that happen? I’m just asking the history of all the base chances and the times and numbers they changed by.

The base shiny odds odds went from 8192 to 4096 when XY released, and have been that way since.

Generation VI slightly changed how Shiny Pokémon are determined to double the default chances that a Pokémon will be Shiny. The basic formula remains the same, but the threshold for a Pokémon to be Shiny is now 16 instead of 8. This results in a base Shiny probability of approximately 16/65536, or 1/4096.

Thanks! That was simpler than I thought.
yw!! and yeah lol, they were like "lets just double the odds" and adjusted the formula. the real doozy is how they came up with 1/8192 in the first place, that will blow your mind
