So I recently had the thought of pokémon and if
they can die, because cubone has a skull on its head which is probably from a pokémon (I think it is from a charizard) the same for marowak it also has a skull on its head (I think it is from alakazam or kadabra), but in battles they only faint and they do not die and you can just give them hp them by going to a pokécenter.

So can they die and if so from what (e.g. age, murder, desease etc.)???

Yeah, it seems like pokemon can die of natural and artificial causes, same a regular animal. But of course the Pokémon world has to be made of rainbows and lollipops, so it hardly ever happens.
There is an NPC in PLZA who says "People... Pokemon... We're all going to die someday, aren't we?" if you talk to him (no additional context).
They can die of Murder. Canonically, Cubone’s mother was killed by Team Rocket.

The graveyards also say Pokemon can die of old age
With cubone and marowak, the skull is from its mother and Marowak is when that skull fuses with it's own skull

I think this is a list of major references to death everywhere important except Legends: Z-A.

Yes, there has been death in the Pokémon series. As Silver mentioned, Team Rocket did kill Cubone’s mother in the Kanto region, so murder does happen. Also, in Unova, Alder’s first partner Pokémon was said to have died of an illness. While there has never been any death during a battle, there have definitely been some close calls. During Ash’s battle against Brock, Pikachu was getting crushed by Onix’s Bind. If Ash hadn’t forfeited, Pikachu probably would have been squeezed to death.

So, why do Pokémon faint in battle instead of die?
Mainly because it is a game for children, but also because Satoshi Tajiri disliked the idea of death in video games, saying that you should treat death with respect.

Wasn't there this ending scene in Lucario and the mystery of Mew or some other movie where Lucario fades into particles and "dies?"
