At what point are stats determined for an egg?

I’m not sure if it’s the same or different by game, I’ve been playing Sword. I’m just curious when stats like gender, shininess, nature etc are decided for an egg? Is it before you get it from the daycare lady or before it hatches? Another point?

When you get the egg from the daycare lady. The eggs stats are not determined before you get it from the lady.
