What are the prerequisites for Type: Null in USUM?

do I need to do the entire rainbow rocket quest?

Wicke gives you Type: Null when you meet her in Ancient Poni Path after becoming the Champion. If your boxes are completely full when you do this, you can receive it from her later at Aether Paradise instead. You don't need to have any postgame content completed to talk to Wicke.

I'm not seeing her, and I'm seeing a lot of conflicting information. Like, I saw a video where someone said it's at Poni Path, and bulbapedia also says Poni Path https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Ancient_Poni_Path. Either way, I'm not finding her and it seem slike sources are unreliable on the subject. I need more help and details.

That's part of my issue. when I left my room, I was sent to the rainbow Rocket quest. Then, I saw Lilie's mom get attacked by rainbow rocket on the TV and was prompted to go to Aether Paradise. Wicke isn't at Poni; she's in Aether Paradise

Admittedly I last beat US a few years ago, so my memory's a little hazy, but I don't think I had to do anything with Team Rainbow Rocket before getting Type: Null. You should've seen the Ultra Recon Squad on Route 1 after leaving your house, which would've opened up Poni Grove for Blacephalon/Stakataka. Wicke intercepts you on that path.

I can confirm you don't have to do any of the Rainbow Rocket stuff before Type: Null. In fact, I think you do Rainbow Rocket after you take care of the Stakataka/Blacephalon. I forgot what happens with the Ultra Recon squad but I loosely remember someone showing up to my house and asking if I wanted to go to Poni Island with them.
