If you have a good competitive moveset for Metagross, post an answer below and upvote the best ones. Movesets for any of its pre-evolutions can also be shared on this thread.

Be sure to include full set details in your post, e.g. items, abilities, natures and EVs. Some detail, including the intended game mode for your set, is also appreciated. Access the full list of guidelines here.

Metagross Pokédex and learnset for reference.

Ik this isn't about a moveset but... why does none of the metagross line get iron fist as an ability? I mean they actually have iron fists... unlike ledian.. who gets iron fist instead of metagross.

Gen 3 OU
Metagross @ Choice Band
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 6 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly / Adamant Nature
- Meteor Mash
- Explosion
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide / Hidden Power Bug or Ghost
The cosmic colossus is insane. Meteor Mash with Choice Band hits like a semi truck. Explosion hits so dang hard it can kill chipped Skarmory in 1 blow. Plus, if they aren't running 40 EVs defense, it is a guaranteed OHKO. Earthquake is coverage, and Rock Slide is more coverage, and they combine to perform the EdgeQuake combo. You can also go for HP Bug to beat Celebi or HP Ghost to beat Gengar respectively. Clear Body is nice for Intimidate users.

Note: The HP types I mentioned are physical. Also, if you use them, then adjust the IVs to HP Bug or Ghost IVs.

Dis is Da Big Man

Metagross-Mega @ Metagrossite
Ability: Clear Body
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Power-Up Punch
- Ice Punch
- Meteor Mash
- Earthquake

After Mega evolution, be will be able outspeed most common 'mons since we get a max speed of 350. Power-up Punch serves as set-up while chipping of some damage or revenge killing. Meteor Mash is the main STAB, Ice Punch kills off Ground Types and EQ KO's Fire types (unless it's Fire/Flying then you're basically screwed). At first sight, It may be bad, but with guidance of use and reason, it is really good and this helped me counter sweep and clutch far too many times

Gen 9 Monotype Stealth Rock (Psychic)

Metagross @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Meteor Mash
- Bullet Punch
- Knock Off / Earthquake

A Stealth Rock set Metagross can use on Psychic teams in Gen 9 Monotype. The thing Metagross has that allows it to serve as an option over Jirachi for the Stealth Rock setter on Psychic teams is its access to priority Bullet Punch. Stealth Rock lets Metagross setup a hazard that chips opposing Pokemon switching in. Meteor Mash is used for the Steel STAB since it is Metagross' poweful physical Steel STAB and can potentially raise its attack stat to let it hit harder. Bullet Punch is a useful priority Steel STAB that allows Metagross to pick off weakened fast Pokemon. Metagross gets Knock Off now, meaning Metagross has a move to cripple switch ins such as Corviknight, Toxapex, Skarmory, and Archaludon. Knock Off is nice to make some sort of progress since most Pokemon don't like switching into a Knock Off. Earthquake can be used to hit Pokemon such as Toxapex, Steel-, and Fire-types such as Heatran, Gouging Fire, Volcanion, Kingambit, Iron Treads, Iron Crown, and Hisuian Goodra super effectively. Leftovers is used to give Metagross a little HP recovery.
