Using items with the Masuda Method?

Question

1,Can you use items such as everstone and power item's while trying to breed a shiny pokemon using the masuda
method (((when you breed two pokemon from two real world countrys))) in the hope that it mite have a good stat set???.

2,Also i read somewhere that pokemon ability's and other items have an effect on the shiny chance's is this true??

1. Yes you can, but the Everstones and Power items do not effect the chance of the shiny Pokemon. You can breed for IVs, Nature, and Shiny at the same time.
2. No that was a lie.

I think that that can no longer occur in P B&W because you can't get pokemon from a different country, though I might have read something else.
