Bug Bite and Occa Berries??

Question

My Scizor knows Bug Bite and, as many trainers know, he is only super-effected by Fire- type moves.

Lets say he faces a Shiftry holding an Occa Berry and uses Bug Bite on it and kills it, but not before consuming the Occa Berry. The opponent then sends out Charizard and uses Flamethrower on Scizor.

Will the Occa Berry weaken the Flamethrower, or no because he has consumed it already and the effects are gone??

No, the berry only weakens it when it is eaten upon being impacted by a fire move. The berry is consumed immediately upon using Bug bite so it would be destroyed. So sorry wont work. Source: Experience
