I alredy did movesets for blatoise and charizard, now it's venusaur time!!
Venusaur
Gen VIII
Venusaur @ Leftovers
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 4 Hp/ 252 SAtk/ 252 Spe
Nature: Modest
-Petal dance/ Energy ball
-Sludge bomb/ Venoshock
-Earth power
-Toxic

Petal dance and energy ball are it's STAB grass moves, wich one is better depends on the battle format
Sludge bomb and venoshock are it's STAB poison moves, venoshock pairs very well with toxic
Earth power is a good coverage against fire types
Toxic is a staple move on a bulky poison type and pairs well with venoshock

Gen 8 OU

The Saur (Venusaur) @ Heat Rock
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Solar Beam
- Sludge Bomb
- Sunny Day
- Growth / Weather Ball

Role: Sun Sweeper

Start setting sunny day, then, if you chosed growth, use it. In sun, growth raise spatk by 2, then, sweep with solar beam and sludge bomb, but, what if appear a steel type? If you chosed weather ball, this can be able to get rid of steel types.

Why do you use sets that require wasting a moveslot for manual weather set-up rather than using a mon that instantly sets up weather like Drought Torkoal?

National Dex UU Physically Defensive

Venusaur @ Venusaurite
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spe
Bold Nature
- Giga Drain / Knock Off
- Sludge Bomb
- Earth Power
- Synthesis

A standard Physically Defensive Mega Venusuar set for NatDex UU. Giga Drain is used for Grass STAB that lets you chip opposing Pokemon and let you recover a little HP. Knock Off can be used instead to cripple opposing Pokemon switching in by removing their crucial items. Sludge Bomb is used for Poison STAB that can be used to fish for the 30% poison chance. Earth Power is used as coverage that allows you to hit Pokemon such as Mega Mawile, Magnezone, Galarian Slowking, and Melmetal super effectively. Synthesis is used to give Mega Venusuar a source of HP recovery.

Venusaur (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 Spe
Nature - Timid

Moves

  • Hidden Power [Rock]
  • Weather Ball
  • Solar Beam

This build covers all Venusaur weaknesses, with exception to psychics.

Base Damage - 60 (Special)

Being super effective at Fire, Ice, Flying and Bug with three of them being a weaknesses of Venusaur.

Weather Ball
Base Damage - 50 (Special)

Being super effective at Grass, Ice, Bug and Steel with one of them being a weaknesses of Venusaur.
The idea of using this move is be able to give Fire Damage with Sunny Day setted, increasing the move damage to 100 plus the Sunny Day buff, arriving at 150 base damage.

Solar Beam
Base Damage - 120 (Special)

Being super effective at Water, Ground and Rock none of them are weaknesses of Venusaur.
Is a powerful STAB move, but it come with a weakness if Sunny Day it is not setted, taking two turns to cause damage.

Sunny Day
Status Move

The whole MoveSet is dependent of this weather, with him activating the full potential of the moves Weather Ball and Solar Beam, also being crucial for the ability Chlorophyll.

  • The idea of the MoveSet is start the Battle with Venusaur using Sunny Day.

Earth Power and Sludge Bomb are better  than HP Rock. Weather Ball already covers Ice, Flying and Bug types (300 and 150 BP respectively) vs a super effective HP Rock (120 BP only). Most importantly, you need it to hit Heatran, which otherwise walls this set. Sludge Bomb helps you hit Pokemon like Dragonite which also can switch in to all your moves and Roost off the damage. Again, STAB Sludge Bomb is 90+45=135 BP, which is stronger than a super effective HP Rock (60*2=120 BP). Sunny Day is a waste of moveslot as you should have a Pokemon that can naturally set sun like Ninetales, Torkoal, Mega Charizard Y, etc. It's better to use Growth which can let you break past bulky Pokemon with ease.

Also as a general advice, most sweepers do not need to have a coverage move for Pokemon they are weak to, it's more important to cover what could wall them instead. Ice, Bug, etc. aren't necessary to fit coverage for, especially when the coverage you're talking about is weaker than other moves.
