Yesterday, I typed in a link to a song four time (unconsecutivly) on chat ( the four times that i got on ), and people got really worked up, and someone threatened to ban report me. How would typing something random count as spam? It was just a cool song, and I've typed random stuff loads of times before, and no one said anything about it.

Spam is posting the same thing over and over again. Or posting unreadable stuff over and over. Anything I call spam, I call it so because it's
A) annoying
B) repetitive
C) or you have been asked to stop several times

^ is spam

I

^is spam

The above are simplified versions. It would be very long and very annoying if
I

Like that all the time. So I should think at least 10 or more lines of one of the above examples would count as spam.

So what you did is minor spam and you wouldn't get banned for it.

Also being rude, caps, etc. is an offense.

Also, if you want a guideline to what spam is, follow this...
Stupid
Pointless
Annoying
Messages (Notice the "s", thus meaning that it should be plural).

If your message follows that guideline, then you just might be spamming ;)

Because if people didn't care about it the first 2 times, they aren't going to care about it the 3rd or 4th time. Constantly telling people to click a link is pretty annoying.
