Is there something that can be done about useless tags?

This probably isn't a huge problem, but it's been bothering me, so I thought that I should ask about it. There are quite a few tags that are nearly the same things (for example, "difference" and "differences" are two different tags) or are just useless and have only been used once because they're too specific, very unspecific, or just stupid. (for example, "much," "arcticuno," "myself," and "please") Is there some way to get rid of these tags?

Yes. First of all, you can edit questions yourself to remove them as and when they occur, especially if there are only 1-2 questions.

Secondly, new users cannot use any tags outside the top 1000. So they can't add junk tags like "myself". There's only one question with that tag and it's from 2010 before I added that option.

For other tags I have options set up to automatically fix or "normalize" certain tags, like hgss -> heartgold-soulsilver or hm -> hms . It also removes common/useless words like the, and, help, question and so on.

Feel free to give me some more examples and I'll look at adding them to the options.

I would edit them, but most of the tags are either old or in large amounts, such as "difference." I'd rather not bring them to the recent activity page if not necessary.

Yes if there are many questions with a tag, that's exactly what I made the auto-fixer for. I just updated 'difference' a few minutes ago, also did 'wi-fi' to 'wifi'.
It's late here now so I'll look at doing the others another time.
