About anonymous users

Question

While i was looking over my old answers and questions, i stumbled accross this question that I answered. Upon clicking on this question, I noticed that the user that asked the question now shows up as 'anonymous' and I was unable to click on their profile. Can I ask what is the deal with this and why would a user come up as anonymous?

P.S. I am NOT asking who this person was nor the specific reason why this specific user shows up as anonymous.

This happens when a user's account is deleted from the site. This doesn't happen often, since Pokemaster is the only one who can outright delete accounts, and there's usually no reason to do so as opposed to just leaving the account inactive.
