Diameter=a straight line passing from side to side through the center of a body or figure, especially a circle or sphere.
Radius=a straight line from the center to the circumference of a circle or sphere. (1/2 a diameter)
Circumference=he enclosing boundary of a curved geometric figure, especially a circle.

To be very honest, I don't really know. I only assume radius* I think you meant and circumference are used as a foundation for working with things that build upon these; more complex mathematics. :)
