This got downvotes because i already answered it and my answer was up-to-date and accurate. mine wasn't the best answer, but it didn't need another. additionally, the ice rock is in BDSP, so the statement "only in LA" isn't accurate. i think it's also in SWSH but i won't want to factcheck that :P

re: if you would be expert, i think you have a lot of potential, even as you are now. you are active, you're willing to learn and accept feedback, and you're growing a lot. i think you're incredibly smart as well.  i think it's clear you care about the site and others as well. assuming you meet all the criteria and we were accepting, i would nominate you. however, that is not my decision alone to make. it would be up to everyone.

if expert is something you want, i think you should look to the other staff members for advice and feedback. Hellfire Taco is probably your biggest critic. He's silly, but he is well-respected among staff. I think it would be wise to try to get his approval (you can't win his approval by being his pal; it would have to be through hard work, he's a tough guy!). Honestly, even for current issue, he could probably give you more and better feedback than I can. Fizz is also always looking for potential, and keeping tabs on people, even if he isn't active socially. If you ever want an unbiased, blunt opinion, sumwun is your creature. it is so incredibly smart, and they can be so factual, honest, and unbiased.

It's okay that points are a motivator! That IS the purpose of points, after all. Even I'm super motivated for points (I want to hit 13k by the end of the month). I'm happy to hear that you want to learn and share your knowledge with others. We feel like some of your filler and fun commentary can be a bit much. SOME fun commentary is fun, but don't let it distract from the purpose of the post. I'm totally fine if you want to answer for the frogs :P

Basically, you have BEAUTIFUL answers you tend to be a little much at times, especially the older ones. I think it's awesome you want to be detailed and resourceful, but simple can be best.

On my own personal note, I find Bolding and paragraphing are good ways to help emphasize what's most important in the post, and adding tl;dr (too long; didn't read) as a quick summary at the bottom can help. Personally, I usually do the following:

(my ideas on the topic to explain what I think, or additional things that i think are related. this is where I do personal statements like "I" or "think". don't put too much; just what is needed. i would put "for the frogs :P" at the end here if i really needed to.)

it's generally not needed to add personal thoughts, opinions, or extra detail unless the question requires you to make an educated guess based off of circumstance (like the meloetta gender question).

I just saw your post on Fizz's wall about Experts and I don't think you got a reply, so I want to comment on that real quick lol. Mods can promote anyone to expert at any time, however we only do it during promotions. We host promotions about once per year OR as needed. When we promote people to expert before 6000, there's a few unspoken requirements, like account age, activity, knowledge, activity in community, and maturity. Even if someone meets all those requirements, we only will promote if there's a site need for it. We discussed promotions last month, and we agree we have enough active staff at the moment for the level of activity, so we are not considering promoting anyone at this time. It will likely be another year before we consider promotions again. However! We will always honour the 6000 point tradition. So, if you want Expert, you would need to get 6000 points for it at this time. (I will answer your questions in another wallpost)

Personally, I am very fond of you and your presence, and I believe you are an asset to the site, and I believe you have a lot of potential and bring a lot of much needed energy here. I really, honestly, enjoy you being here. I think I would be sad if you decided to quit. I know I was quite stern in my last message; please do not take it as a personal attack on you. I wanted to address this immediately because I like having you here, and I saw your growth (You HAVE been doing better than ever!!). i was worried of a relapse, for lack of better terms. With that all said, I believe what you relayed to me in your last message, so thank you for sharing.

A lot of current concern is based around past behaviour and history; seeing these have made people worry it was something that you won't change from. I do know know of people who have been bothered, but it is not my place to share who, as it is not about you as an individual.

I want to be as transparent as possible with you to ensure you have ample opportunity to grow and thrive here. I know criticism is never easy to take, but here's some of the concerns shared. Please use this as an opportunity to grow and thrive.

Here's a comment that was shared with me.
"my problem with the way he edits is that he edits a LOT and it rarely improves his answers significantly. it's not uncommon that he'll post an answer and do 5 or 6 edits over the course of the next couple days, none of which change the answer enough to make it better.

Another thing often mentioned is that we feel like you make a lot of effort to impress others or to get points. We want you make sure you understand the point of the website is to make helpful and clear answers, without any extra information, with the intention to help others in the future. Additional comments, random chatter, and personal thoughts in answers are usually not helpful in answers. I know it's confusing since early database was full of personal chatter, but now that type of stuff is to be limited to wallposts or chatroom. Remember: answers are to be clear, to the point, and no personal commentary. the answers should be easy to find.

This type of behaviour is not wanted here; it is problematic to the site. Do not be bumping old threads, or begging to get the Best Answer. It is annoying to some, and it makes it so that others do not want to support you. I believe I have already spoke to you once or twice before about bumping threads unnecessarily and points. In other words, this is a formal warning as a moderator: you need to stop with this, as it won't be tolerated any further. Continuing with point-begging behaviours will result in disciplinary action.

From me personally, not speaking as a moderator, I thought I was seeing a lot of growth from you, and I was really rooting for you. I feel like this change is sudden and out of character for what you were working for. I wanted to check in with you to see if all is okay?
