Hell yeah. With Freeze Shock and Ice Burn coming out we get the arrival of a classic: Blastoise. This guy was one of the dominating forces in the old TCG (or at least its predecessor was) up until the Gym series and the release of Rocket's Zapdos (and even then, Wooper from Neo 1 allowed Rain Dance to get a small resurgance). So expect Rain Dance to make a comeback. With my expert knowledge of Rain Dance, I can give a pretty good idea of what this is going to look like. So here goes, the metagame dominating force...
Pokemon: 18
x4 Blastoise: http://serebii.net/card/boundariescrossed/031.shtml
-Hell... yes...
x4 Squirtle: http://serebii.net/card/boundariescrossed/029.shtml
-Oh my god! NO DAMAGE WHILE ON THE BENCH! Just keep away from Catcher and this guy can safely stay until you get that Blastoise and Rare Candy.
x2 Keldeo Ex: http://serebii.net/card/boundariescrossed/049.shtml
-This thing can come in easily if Blastoise has unfortunately been dragged out by Catcher. And it also has a three for 50 that does 20 more damage for each Water energy on it (so technically a three for 110), which works incredibly well with Blastoise. Also 170 HP!
x3 Alomomola: http://serebii.net/card/blackwhite/039.shtml
-Rain Dance needs that certain card to survive opening attacks. 100 HP makes this basic that card. Hydro Pump also gets a boost from Blastoise, making this an excellent addition to Rain Dance.
x2 Beartic: http://serebii.net/card/emergingpowers/030.shtml
-130 HP is great. Sheer Cold is an incredible attack, a three for 50 that STOPS THE FOE FROM ATTACKING. Yeah, GameFreak is so wanting us to use Rain Dance. Also has a four for 80 (easy to set up with Blastoise) that ignores resistance, which is great when facing Grass decks.
x3 Cubchoo: http://serebii.net/card/emergingpowers/028.shtml
-The better of the Cubchoo, being able to put the foe to sleep while also doing damage, for one energy only. Also 70 HP is solid.
Trainers: 22
x4 Cheren: http://serebii.net/card/emergingpowers/091.shtml
-As anybody who knows Rain Dance can tell you, you need a lot of drawing power to get all the energy in your deck into play and on your Pokemon.
x4 Professor Juniper: http://serebii.net/card/blackwhite/101.shtml
-DRAWING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
x1 Computer Search: http://serebii.net/card/boundariescrossed/137.shtml
-I would've liked three of these things, but only one Ace Spec per deck. Anyways, this helps get the card that we need.
x2 Skyla: http://serebii.net/card/boundariescrossed/134.shtml
-Gets the Trainers I need.
x3 Pokemon Catcher: http://serebii.net/card/emergingpowers/095.shtml
-Gets in some Pokemon (such as an EX, Emboar, or Reuniculus) who is not ready to come out and will be easy to take down.
x4 Rare Candy: http://serebii.net/card/darkexplorers/100.shtml
-To evolve Squirlte into Blastoise. This is actually a lot faster than having Wartortle and a lot less risky as such. We used Pokemon Breeder back in the day, but this is the same thing.
x3 Super Rod: http://serebii.net/card/noblevictories/095.shtml
-Gets back Energy and Pokemon that were lost in any way. And something needs to prevent this deck from decking itself on turn two.
Energy: 20
x20 Water Energy
