Hey guys, Riles here w/ a SemiStall Rain Team kind of inspired by Mew :3 (But not really since my team is better. :D) Anyways, I haven't used rain in months tbh, and I really wanted to use it since I got beat a couple times on Showdown by these generic rain teams. So then I made a couple teams, and they weren't so great. Then I randomly out of nowhere came up with this master piece. I know some of the sets are weird, but I'm willing to change them. I don't really want to change Pokemon since this team has some nice synergy going on. Enjoy the team & please leave some suggestions or comments. Thanks! ت
Politoed (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 232 HP / 232 Def / 44 SAtk
Bold Nature
- Encore
- Scald
- Protect
- Perish Song
Well, I really wish Politoed got some form of recovery, (unless it does and I'm just cluelessly writing this, o.o) But yeah, this is kind of a utility set just to make sure people don't try to set up all over my team I could do two things, Perish song, or encore :3
Zapdos @ Leftovers
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 248 HP / 236 SDef / 24 Spd
Calm Nature
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Thunder
- Roost
- Substitute
Eugh, it's been back and forth with this or Thundurus-T, I personally find Zapdos better, even thought it doesn't have it's Dream World ability released yet. (I wish it would release already!) It would be nice to have a pokemon who can absorb those annoying thunder waves. I made this Specially Defensive because I find the offensive life orb set way too frail. Another reason I chose Zapdos is because it's much more versatile than Thundurus-T so people don't really know what set to expect.
Ferrothorn (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 188 HP / 128 Def / 192 SDef
Relaxed Nature
- Spikes
- Thunder Wave
- Leech Seed
- Power Whip
This poor guy is always getting abused on this team. He's my bulky pivot switch. Taking the Thunder Waves for the team like a champ, then dishing one of his own back out. Leech seed is nice recovery for the team and what not, (Unless your name is Mew and runs a random Liquid Ooze on a STALL rain team, pshfffft.) Power whip so I'm not taunt bait. And spikes > stealth rocks because I can hit most levitators hard with my other Pokemon. Also this EV spread rocks. ت
Jirachi @ Leftovers
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 164 SDef / 92 Spd
Calm Nature
- Calm Mind
- Substitute
- Thunder
- Psychic
Jirachi has to be voted MVP of the team. It's tanking special hits for days, and i through some speed on it so I have a better chance at getting up a Substitute and sweeping. Thunder is nice for that Serene Grace Paralyze hax, and I run Psychic over Psyshock because hopefully I'll get the 20% chance of a SDef drop so it will be all good in the end. This originally was a Wish-Passing set with Stealth Rocks, but last minute I decided to change it, and let me tell you I will most likely not be changing it back to a Wish-Pass set.
Salamence (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Moxie
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Claw
- Brick Break
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
Well, I needed a Physical attacker, and who does physical better then some dragons? + he's supported by the team fairly well. I'm sure you can argue Dragonite is better than Salamence, but I didn't have time to look up all the differences or Pros/Cons of using one or the other. If you want me to use Dragonite, convince me it's better. Also, I don't run outrage because I feel it messes up sweeps if you can't get rid of the pesky steel type right away. Another thing, Is I'm not sure what item I should be using. Lum Berry is very orthodox and has it's benefits, but I think leftovers has a better chance of coming into effect. Although it would suck if I did get burned or paralyzed. I could possibly run a Choice Scarf? Since I don't really have a scarfer, although I haven't had that many problem with Salamence, just a few thoughts.
Tentacruel (F) @ Black Sludge
Trait: Rain Dish
EVs: 252 HP / 236 Def / 20 Spd
Bold Nature
- Toxic Spikes
- Scald
- Rapid Spin
- Protect
Lastly we have Tentacruel which completes my "FerroCruel / TentaThorn" core. Honestly I needed a spinner, and he abuses the rain which makes it much more likely I'll spin those hazards away. (Mew if you're reading this, notice RAIN DISH, NOT LIQUID OOZE!) Toxic spikes almost NEVER come into play, and this set is walled by Toxickroak.. what should I replace Toxic Spikes with?
