Pokémon Rate My Team

Hi. This is my first ever RMT question and I really want to give a shout out to Ben and Artist for having practice battles with me on Showdown. So far this team's powerhouse has been Tyranitar, scaring off most opponents by setting up Dragon Dance and sweeping as a lead Pokemon. This teams only downfall is that is not very Synergised and it has a massive Water type weakness overall.

GG with this team. It has been pretty successful so far.

On the battle replay, your opponent was a pure noob. Screens won't benefit anybody on your team except Alakazam, Hyper Beam in competitive is just disgusting, having two priority moves on Scizor is a fail and Bug Bite is just sad. Hippowdon is a pure set-up fodder, and so is Bronzong. Bronzong has no place on this team, and Alakazam either, so I suggest Reuniclus over Alakazam.
My answer should be posted by tonight.

Tyranitar - I really like Dagon Dance Tyranitar but it has trouble with winning the weather war. Even with the rpesence of Hippowdon, this is a problem. The reason this is a problem is because I am going to replace T-tar for you. I am going to suggest a different Dragon Dancer and one that is capable of demolishing teams after but one Dragon Dance.

Gyarados @ Leftovers
Trait: Moxie
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Ice Fang
- Earthquake

Dragon Dance gets you fast enough to outspeed most other threats, and also gets your Attack high enough to punish the poor soul on the other side of the field. This will usually get you a Moxie boost, and that is quite often then end of the game. Waterfall is STAB and Ice Fang and Earthquake provide efficient coverage.

Hippowdon - You already have SR on Bronzong so I suggest you replace SR with Earthquake. Aso, change his EV spread to 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef. This will allow you to effectively tank a mutlitude of physical moves that you might otherwise have trouble taking. Make his Nature Impish, and change Whirlwind for Roar :P

Now I like Garchomp there but is not helping with our ice weakness or your Water weakness. I am going to sugges a pokemon that resists both Water and Ice, and makes the famous Scizor + Rotom-W core. If you haven't already guessed it, this pokemon is Rotom-Wash.

Rotom-W - So you need a scarfer, and Rotom fits the bill. He synergizes well with the team, and as previously stated perfoems exceptionally well with Scizor.

Rotom-W @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Trick

Hydro Pump is your main STAB, and Volt Switch is all-around amazing. Hidden Power [Ice] gets great coverage, and Trock is great for crippling walls such as Blissey.

Scizor - I like LO Scizor but more recently I have been using CB Scizor a lot and it does not disappoint.

Scizor @ Choice Band
*Trait: Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Punch
- Pursuit
- SuperPower
- U-turn

Bullet Punch is STAB and hits incredibly hard, as well as hitting first. Pursuit is useful for trapping key opponents and Superpower hits other Steel types. U-turn is STAB as well and hits relatively hard while letting you escape and scout at the same time.

Alakzam - You have some problems here, mainly Hyper Beam and Calm Mind. Alakazam is very frail, and you will be killed on the recharge turn for Hyper Beam, also, you do not have the appropiate bulk to run Calm Mind. Alakazam can be just as deadly in the sand as Reuniclus, and is often overlooked and considered outclassed. However, Alakazam can be used with devastating results if played to his strengths. This is the set I used a while back for the sand and I solemnly swear that it will not let you down.

Alakazam @ Life orb
Trait: Magic Gaurd
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Psychic
- Focus Blast
- Energy Ball
- Shadow Ball

Pretty straight forward I think, mono attacker set. Psychic is STAB and hits pretty hard, Focus Blast and Energy Ball are coverage for Steels and Gastrodon, and Shadow Ball is for hitting Ghost types and other Psychic types.

Bronzong - I like the use of Heatproof here, as almost every Bronzong you ever see has Levitate. If you have trouble with Ground types I strongly recommend changing to Levitate, but if Heatpoof has been working by all means keep it there. The only thing I am going to suggest for the set is that you change Explosion for Gyro Ball, run a speed lowering nature, and give him 0 IV's in speed. Also, change his EVs to 252 HP / 252 SDef / 4 Def.

If you want synergy, i can help you there:

Hippowdon: your set is Taunt bait. and Mixed Walling is not Hippowdons calling in life i recommend:

Hippowdon @ Leftovers/Rocky Helmet
Trait: Sand Stream
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
252 Def/ 212 HP/ 44 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Slack Off
- Ice Fang/Whirlwind
This set is a physical wall with recovery and phazing ability. it sets up rocks and then Ice Fang or Whirlwind is a matter of personal taste. if you worry about Flying types dodging earthquake then add Ice Fang. if not, go Whirlwind.

Scizor @ Life Orb
Trait: Technician
Jolly Nature (+Spe, -SAtk)
252 Spe/ 212 Atk/ 44 HP
- Bullet Punch
- Roost
- Swords Dance
- Bug Bite/Superpower
Life Dance set. Bullet Punch is Priority STAB and after Swords Dance is terrifying. Roost is recovery. Bug Bite is STAB and can destroy the strategy of Berry Holders like Lum Berry Mew, Dragonite, Tyranitar, Gyarados and the like or snag an ill-gotten stat boost from a Salac or Liechi Berry. if that doesn't appeal to you, Superpower can damage opposing Steel types who might wall Scizor but it will set you back if you've set up a swords dance or two if you spam it.

For synergy i would add:

Heatran @ Choice Specs
trait: Flash Fire
Timid Nature (+Spe, -Atk)
252 Spe/ 252 SAtk/ 4 SDef
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Flash Cannon
- Hidden Power [Grass]
Flash Fire suck up Fire attacks directed at Scizor. With Specs, switching Heatran into a Fire attack means Fire Blast is 180 BP STAB x2 for 360 BP attack. this is painful. no matter what you think.

Gastrodon @ Life Orb
trait: Storm Drain
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
252 SAtk/ 212 HP/ 44 SDef
- Scald
- Stockpile
- Recover
- Ice Beam/Earth Power
Special Tank. Stockpile make Def and SDef x2 after 2 uses. with Recover this is beast. Storm Drain soaks up Water attacks aimed at Heatran completing the synergy between Scizor/Heatran/Gastrodon's type core. Life Orb pumps attacks even more. Ice Beam covers Dragon and Ground types, where Earth Power covers Steel types and Electric types that resist Scald. Scald makes Gastrodon even bulkier if it burns the opponents physical attackers. beastly snail....

Garchomp is great, but Swords Dance + Substitute makes good use of Earthquake/Dragon Claw combos awesome coverage to hit like a truck on steroids being driven by Chuck Norris and the Hulk at the same time.

Landorus @ Expert Belt
trait: Sand Force
Naive Nature (+Spe, -SDef)
252 Atk/ 252 Spe/ 4 Def
- Earthquake
- Smack Down
- Focus Blast
- Rock Polish
Mixed Sand Sweeper. Sand Force and Rock Polish set up to destroy. Expert Belt helps get the OHKO on bulky Steel types.

Hope this helps :)
