We decided to make a VGC team together because we both play
hyperoffensive. From the start we wanted to use Cresselia. A really
bulky Cresselia came out after a few tests. Note: MrKijani uses a
different Cresselia that I do. As partner we choose Hitmontop. For two
reasons he is there: Fake Out and Wide Guard support and Intimidate.
Of course we needed a Dragon-type so we went with Latios who has great
synergy with Metagross and Hitmontop. Since Metagross is also weak to
Fire we threw Flash Fire Chandelure in. And to protect the little
Chandelure a Gastrodon with Storm Drain. Here is the team:
Latios @ Dragon Gem
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Protect
Dragon Gem Draco Meteor as STAB destroying everything in his way. Psyshock as secondary STAB hitting Fighting types really hard. Hidden Power Fire for those annoying Steel-types (not named Heatran)
Metagross @ Lum Berry
Trait: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 116 Atk / 4 Def / 136 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Zen Headbutt
- Meteor Mash
- Ice Punch
A full attack set, so no Protect. I missed some coverage so decided to run Ice Punch over Protect. Ice Punch for Flying, Ground and Dragon. Meteor Mash as STAB and his lovely chance to rise its attack. Zen Headbutt as secondary STAB. Earthquake to hit multiple opponents.
Cresselia @ Sitrus Berry
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 220 HP / 184 Def / 104 SDef
Modest Nature
- Icy Wind
- Helping Hand
- Trick Room
- Psyshock
Cresselia, our star. Icy Wind for speed control when Trick Room dies. Also slows opponents down so I can take them down with a Draco Meteor respectively. Helping Hand to turn 2HKO into a OHKO. Trick Room for speed control and support Metagross, Gastrodon and Chandelure. Psyshock as STAB.
Hitmontop @ Fighting Gem
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 12 Atk / 84 Def / 156 SDef / 4 Spd
Careful Nature
- Fake Out
- Close Combat
- Sucker Punch
- Wide Guard
Fake Out to set up Trick Room if needed, Wide Guard to protect against DisQuake and SlideQuake. Close Combat as STAB to threaten Tyrannitar and other Dark that threaten my team (not named Sableye) Sucker Punch for priority.
Gastrodon @ Rindo Berry
Trait: Storm Drain
EVs: 252 HP / 108 Def / 148 SDef
Relaxed Nature
- Muddy Water
- Stockpile
- Recover
- Earth Power
To take the Water attacks aimed at Chandelure. Muddy Water as STAB and to hit both opponents, Earth Power as secondary STAB. Recover to get health back. Stockpile to boost my defenses. Rindo Berry to stay in longer.
Chandelure @ Fire Gem
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 244 HP / 20 Def / 24 SAtk / 220 SDef
Sassy Nature
- Heat Wave
- Shadow Ball
- Energy Ball
- Protect
To take care of Metagross his Fire weakness. Heat Wave as STAB, Shadow Ball as STAB. Energy Ball for opposing Gastrodons. Protect to dodge Eartquakes and Rock Slides
