Welcome to Monotype PokemonchampBen
Ah, I rememebr my first Monotype team. It was also Poison...
The current team looks pretty decent but of course can be improved. The Synergy between the Poison Types with a Ground Type Weakness to the ones with a Psychic is very nice, however, it's missing Venomoth, as you mentioned above. It is almost a must have on every Mono Poison team.
*Keep in mind that the Sets correlate with each other.
For example, if you choose Set 1 for Drapion, Set 1 for Nidoqueen is intended to be paired with that set. So you would choose CB Drapion+Roar Nidoqueen.
Drapion
Set 1(Anti Psychic/Trapper)
Drapion (F) @ Choice Band
Trait: Sniper
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Pursuit
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide / Ice Fang
- Sleep Talk
A Choice Banded Drapion variant that who's Role on the team is simple: kill of Psychic Types.
Set 2 (Toxic Phazer)
Drapion (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sniper
EVs: 196 HP / 72 Atk / 240 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Ice Fang
- Whirlwind
- Toxic Spikes
This set aims to provide your team with a Bulky Phazer that removes the Pokemon that are immune to it.
Set 1.5(Test Set)
Drapion (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Battle Armor
EVs: 252 HP / 16 Atk / 240 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Crunch
- Acupressure
- Sleep Talk
- Rest
The RestTalk Acupressure Drapion is a slightly gimmicky set that takes advantage of Drapion's decent Bulk and attempts to rack up well rounded, random boost from Acupressure while dealing damage with Crunch.
You'll be the first to test my RestTalk Acupressure Set out. Tell me how it works out, I have yet to try it myself.
Venomoth
Venomoth > Crobat
Venomoth (M) @ Mental Herb / Insect Plate
Trait: Tinted Lens
EVs: 192 HP / 252 Def / 4 SAtk / 56 SDef / 4 Spd
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Bug Buzz
- Baton Pass
- Quiver Dance
- Roost
A Venomoth without Sleep Powder? Yeah. Too predictable and with little pay off as it has low accuracy. Here is an attempt at a Bulky Mono Attacking Venomoth that can pass its boost to the rest of the team.
Nidoqueen
Set 1 (Roar Nidoqueen)
Nidoqueen (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SAtk
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Earth Power
- Ice Beam
- Roar / Taunt
- Stealth Rock
Basic Hazard Setting Nidoqueen who is also capable as a Tank and Phazer.
Set 2 (Tank)
Nidoqueen (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SAtk
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Earth Power
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Stealth Rock
A dangerous Tank to Baton Pass Venomoth's Quiver Dances to that also sets up the Stealth Rocks for Drapion's Phaze.
Gengar
Choice Scarf Gengar > LO Gengar
Gengar (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast
- Energy Ball
- Trick
The team needs a Revenge Killer. A Pokemon that is immune to ExtremeSpeed and Mach Punch is a good one, just watch out for the predictable Sucker Punch and Bullet Punch or even rarer Shadow Sneak from Gallade/Spiritomb.
Weezing
Weezing (M) @ Black Sludge
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SAtk
Bold Nature
- Clear Smog
- Fire Blast
- Will-o-Wisp
- Pain Split
^ The current set is fine.
Toxicroak
Toxicroak (M) @ Black Sludge
Trait: Dry Skin
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Drain Punch
- Ice Punch
- Swords Dance
Jolly Nature > Adamant Nature for more Speed.
