Pokémon Rate My Team

>A few weeks ago, I decided that I should learn a new tier because I was getting bored of the same old OU and UU, so I came to Ubers. First I had a long look at Smogon, then I looked at the RMT, then looked at some PS Battle Replays and finally asked one of the best Uber players in the DB for advice. I considered all of the main threats when teambuilding, and ended up with something complete.

Teambuilding Process

I wanted to try one of my favourite Mixed Attackers first, to see how it would do. Equipped with the Orb of Life, in came Genesect.

OP Pokemon are needed in Uber, so straight away the most dangerous rain sweeper sprang to mind. Its STAB attacks also beat the only weakness of my Genesect.

EKiller Arceus wrecked my first (and worst) Uber team, so I needed a check for it. Who better to use than Arceus himself in the Ghost form?

I was lacking a defensive Pokemon at this point, and also anything that could get rid of hazards. Lugia is a brilliant wall that I recently found out could learn Defog, so almost anything can't do much against it.

At this point, I really needed a Pokemon that could prey on Lugia and the Blissey line's inferior Defense while keeping to the synergy of the team, so Orb'd Zekrom joined the krew.

Ferrothorn is a great asset to any team, and is one of the best Kyogre checks. Despite its OU status, it is still a brilliant Pokemon that takes hits like titanium.

The Team

Genesect

@ Life Orb
Trait: Download
EVs: 252 Spd / 128 Atk / 128 SAtk
Naive Nature
- U-Turn
- Flash Cannon
- ExtremeSpeed
- Flamethrower

As I said, Genesect is one of my favourite Mixed Attackers. Download exploits their larger weakness, helping boost his moves even further. U-Turn is good STAB that switches him out to avoid most trouble. Flash Cannon is also STAB that cripples Fairies like Arceus-Fairy and Xerneas. ExtremeSpeed is a powerful priority move that deals heavy damage after a Download boost and Flamethrower is a final coverage move that melts through the otherwise sturdy defenses of Ferrothorn.

Kyogre

@ Choice Specs
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Modest Nature
- Water Spout
- Surf
- Thunder
- Sleep Talk

Pretty much a standard Kyogre set. Water Spout absolutely destroys almost every Pokemon at full HP and in rain. Surf is when Kyogre's HP is quite low, and is reliable STAB. Thunder is good coverage and has 100% accuracy in rain, and finally, as Kyogre is my main Darkrai counter, it has Sleep Talk to break through Dark Void and hit Darkrai hard.

Arceus-Ghost

@ Spooky Plate
Trait: Multitype
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Timid Nature
- Calm Mind
- Judgement
- Hidden Power [Fighting]
- Recover

Renowned as one of the most dangerous Pokemon in the game, Calm Mind GhostCeus is a force to be reckoned with. It is primarily a sweeper, but secondarily a EKiller check. Calm Mind boosts his STAB Judgement and Hidden Power which both provide brilliant coverage. Recover is used when you think it is finally over... BAM! Healed.

Lugia

@ Leftovers
Trait: Multiscale
EVs: 252 HP / 176 Def / 80 SDef
Impish Nature
- Roost
- Dragon Tail
- Toxic
- Defog

Known to all as the Great Wall of Pokemon, Lugia laughs at almost anything with its stellar defenses and Multiscale. Roost heals it to annoy all, Dragon Tail is a good scouting move that bypasses Taunt and Toxic damages the opponent every turn, which is needed because of his nonexistent attacking stats (well, nonexistent for an Uber Pokemon, that is). Defog gets rid of all hazards, and, as a matter of fact, is very hard to get on X/Y ingame. First, you must catch a Lugia in HG/SS, then you trade it to D/P/P, then you teach it Defog, then you trade it back to HG/SS, then you transfer it to B/W/B2/W2, then you transfer it to X/Y. Whew...
...sorry, that was totally irrelevant.

Zekrom

@ Life Orb
Trait: Teravolt
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Jolly Nature
- Bolt Strike
- Dragon Claw
- Crunch
- Hone Claws

Zekrom is a brilliant Physical sweeper, as showcased in this very set. Bolt Strike is a powerful STAB that hits hard even on Lugia, Dragon Claw is another reliable STAB and Crunch is literally the only coverage it gets. Hone Claws fills the last slot, and compliments his other moves by powering them up. Additionally, it helps with Bolt Strike's terrible accuracy making it more reliable.

Ferrothorn

@ Leftovers
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SDef / 4 Atk
Impish Nature
- Leech Seed
- Stealth Rock
- Thunder Wave
- Power Whip

Ferrothorn is my Kyogre check and my lead. It can take a hit from the Ogre and hit back with Power Whip. I use it as my lead because setting up Stealth Rock at an early stage is crucial to the match.
Thunder Wave helps some of my sweepers outspeed otherwise faster Pokemon and Leech Seed saps away health from the opponent, making it even harder to KO.

I suggest changing Kyogre from Specs to Scarf, as nothing in your team can stop the infamous Geomancer Xerneas that freely roams around the Uber tier. At least with a Scarf, you can dent it, if not OHKO it before it sets up.

Also, a couple more things:

Ghostceus doesn't really need HP fighting when it has access to Focus Blast. Unless you REALLY need to hit the move 100% of the time, Focus Blast is the superior option.

Idk how you play your Zekrom, but if you find yourself usually setting up Hone Claws when you switch in (like, 65-80% of the time), rather than just going straight in to attack, then i suggest running Substitute and Leftovers, as it helps Zekrom pull off easy sweeps, and boost up safely without worrying about toxic or Willowisp.
Tailwind Lugia is battar

So I'm seeing some issues on your team that need some help. In no way should you accept these suggestions without testing first because I've been out of Ubers for some time.

Genesect is ok.....
I'd suggest running the physical Scarf set so that you have A) a Scarfer B) A Perfect revenge Killer and C) You'll hit the fairies more reliably.
A) Switch item to scarf.
B) Here's your new set:

Genesect @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Download
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 SAtk
Naive Nature
- U-Turn
- Iron Head
- Explosion / Blaze Kick / Extremespeed
- Ice Beam

C) Most fairies will have SDef investment, so even with a SAtk boost you still may not be hitting them reliably. Therefore Iron Head is preferable to A) Get a higher damage output or B) Score the KOs that Flash Cannon cannot. You can choose the third slot, they all work out, although you'll need a specific nature for Blaze Kick.

SpecsOgre, here have a duskull:

Pairs well with a strong Physical attacker like Genesect.

I would personally recommend a GhostCeus wall set to help beat EKiller 1v1.

+2 252+ Atk Arceus Shadow Claw vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Arceus-Ghost: 272-320 (61.2 - 72%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

As you can see you won't want to switch into a predicted Shadow Claw, but you can tank one at full health. So here's your set, and gg if Will-O-Wisp misses :I

Arceus @ Spooky Plate
Trait: Multitype
EVs: 248 HP / 176 Def / 60 SDef / 16 Spe
Calm Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Recover
- Judgement
- Roar / Thunder Wave

Will-O-Wisp can be used to cripple physical attackers, with your choice of having either Roar to phaze out opposing set up sweepers, or Thunder Wave to cripple speedy special attackers like Palkia. Recover is your recovery (obviously) while Judgement is in case of Taunt which has increased in popularity this Gen. The Def EVs allow GhostCeus to tank a +2 Shadow Claw after Rocks and 3 Spikes, with 60 SDef and Calm bringing up to 320 Special Defense which ties with his Defense stat. 16 Speed EVs is to Speed creep.

Zekrom, good choice for synergy, some suggestions. If you're running Hone Claws then do as Lenub suggested and change your item to Lefties, and your set to Substitute | Hone Claws | Bolt Strike | Dragon Claw.

Ferrothorn: If you choose to run Thunder Wave on GhostCeus then switch TWave to Spikes on Ferro, or Protect, Protect is pretty awesome.
Keep in mind that Ferro cannot tank max HP Kyogre Water Spout in rain :I

Lugia is great, so you can keep her if you want, but you don't really have a Kyogre counter. You have plenty of checks, but if your opponent is good enough they can outplay you and keep Kyogre alive. So you can choose to run either Palkia with Lustrous Orb, or you can keep Lugia. Both work, and it's up to you.

Otherwise nice team, and thanks for the Duskull :3
