Life is a Lemon (and I want my money back)

Welcome to this Gen 6 Ubers RMT. We've started off this Gen with some very OP mons in OU, Ubers, and then some notable mons in UU. I feel this has resulted in a biased metagame, but alas there is so little that can be done to change that. There is so little that can be built creatively, but still be viable on the ladder, or battles in general. And so, I want my money back! The band Meat Loaf is one of my first favorite bands, featuring as early back as my love for Linkin Park and Mussorgsky Solos. My favorite song was on their second album, Bat Out of Hell II (Back Into Hell) titled Life is a Lemon (and I want my money back). The song so accurately describes what life really is (defective) and it's also just an overall great song. The team itself began with me, trying out a Fire|Water|Grass core in Ubers, Ho-Oh and Arceus-Water were my first two, but with Arceus as my Water type I realized I couldn't have Arceus-Grass, nor did I want to use Shaymin-Sky, so I decided to try out Mega-Venusaur. Mega-Venusaur actually works as a good Kyogre counter, but outside of that it really does struggle to fill a niche in Ubers. Mewtwo and Ho-Oh, both prominent pokemon, walk over it, while SupportCeus sets can easily wall it to kingdom come. Therefore I sadly said goodbye to Venusaur, and instead brought in Mega Gengar, switched Arceus to better deal with Mewtwo, and threw in Palkia as my Kyogre counter. A speedy Stealth Rocker was needed and Landorus-T filled that role perfectly, while my role of Pseudo Scarfer went to Xerneas, who also sponges dragon attacks for the team. I have laddered successfully with this team, and had several stellar battles with prominent players such as SteelSkittles (Missed WoW), Hack (Double Protect ended Xern), and Problems. The team peaked at around 1550 on the ladder, although I forgot to screenshot at the time as I had planned to continue laddering, but then didn't for several days.

Life Is (Landorus-Therian) @ Earth Plate
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- U-turn

Landorus-T serves as my hazard setter, my scouter, and my soft physical check. With Jolly and 252 Speed EVs he outspeeds all non-scarfed base 90s and can happily U-Turn out, or Stone Edge (Screw Ho-Oh). Earth Plate coupled with Earthquake, 252 Attack EVs, 145 Base Attack, and STAB is a simple wrecking ball. Honestly it can shred Kyogre on a switch, dent the majority of Arceus forms, brings EleCeus down to a mere 15%, outright blast through Darkrai, Mewtwo, and any steel type not named Skarmory. It's just wicked powerful. I've been debating turning Stone Edge to Toxic, simply to punish SupportCeus, and just might do that as Lando tends to get sacked before any one on one with Ho-Oh might cost the match. Great mon though, definitely would use him again.

A Lemon (Gengar) @ Gengarite
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Destiny Bond
- Taunt
- Shadow Ball
- Sludge Bomb

This thing, is simply deadly. With its ability to complete shut down walls and also punish slower attackers with a speedy Destiny Bond it quickly jumped right up through the ranks until sitting down in S-Rank. It's also my answer to several threats when another teammate goes down, or my team is generally threatened. If I'm smart enough to Megavolve it, it can also successfully kill off EKiller with a faster Destiny Bond. I chose to run Dual Stabs mostly so I can avoid playing silly mindgames with Aegislash who gets ruined by Shadow Ball. Pursuit Scizor is still an issue, but Shadow Ball 2HKOs him, and most people Bullet Punch when Gengar survives the first pursuit anyway, so it's not at all the mind game it's hyped up to be, in my opinion. Anyway, Gengar is broken, next pokemon please.

And I (Arceus-Dark) @ Dread Plate
Ability: Multitype
EVs: 252 HP / 160 SDef / 96 Spd
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Judgment
- Will-O-Wisp
- Defog
- Recover

Arceus-Dark made its way onto the team as my answer to Mewtwo (regular and MMY). It also provided me the role of Defogger, which is incredibly useful in this hazards ridden meta. Will-O-Wisp cripples any physical attacker and actually allows DarkCeus to check EKiller (+2 ESpeed does around 40% iirc) Recover is a reliable recovery, while Judgment is mostly there to push pokemon closer to kill range and is generally better than other potential moves thanks to STAB and Dread Plate.

Want My (Ho-Oh) @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 186 HP / 96 Atk / 174 SDef / 52 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Sacred Fire
- Brave Bird
- Substitute
- Roost

This Ho-Oh spread has been my salvation this generation, capable of sucking up many special attacks with ease, while also having the power to provide KOs. The EVs give me an odd number for HP. Lefties is chosen over other items to alleviate the pressure of Roosting behind a Sub. 96 Attack EVs and Adamant kills Palkia, Kyogre, Groudon, opposing Ho-Oh, Mewtwo, and several others in a 2HKO. Once Ho-Oh is behind a guaranteed Substitute it can be hard to take it down without sacking at least one pokemon. He's saved me many times, love this Ho-Oh spread <3

Money Back (Palkia) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd / 4 SDef
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Thunder
- Spacial Rend
- Fire Blast

Nothing too fancy about ol' Palkia here. I need a hard Kyogre check, and Assault Vest Palkia gave me that exactly. It can handily tank even Choice Specs Water Spout with fair ease, and then return with Thunder. Hydro Pump and Spacial Rend are standard STABs while Fire Blast carts away Ferrothorn, Scizor, and others. Modest Nature because I like Power >:3

Meat Loaf~ (Xerneas) @ Power Herb
Ability: Fairy Aura
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd / 4 SDef
Mild Nature
- Geomancy
- Moonblast
- Focus Blast
- Rock Slide

Now, I do believe that GeoXerneas is cheap, but mostly because it's used way too much. I have it on this team because I needed a Scarfer, but I also wanted to have some breathing room, so that even if I make a bad predict I can patch it up next turn. I chose to run Rock Slide simply because Screw Ho-Oh, while Moonblast is obligatory STAB, feeding off of Geo’s Special Attack boost, and Fairy Aura Boost on top of STAB. Focus Blast hits steel and Bulky Normal types for OHKOs.

That's the team, hope you guys enjoyed reading it as much as I have using it. It's currently the only Uber team I've made this Gen that I'm actually happy with and it got me back into Ubers, where I enjoy theorymonning, building and battling. Feel free to steal the team, drop a rate, or rage at me for using such standard crap, your choice. See you all in Hell with the Bat.

Why no leftovers on Landorus.
Because I'm not running the bulky set with Toxic, I really don't need the recovery, running Earth Plate increases the damage of output of Earthquake by a huge amount, while eliminating any potential for recoil off of running Life Orb, or not getting a boost when hitting pokes neutral holding the Expert Belt. I could run Lum, but Lando is really meant just to get those Rocks up there and annoy physical attackers with an attack drop.
Importable, if you want to try the team out: http://pastebin.com/B8hnyddD
It's an awesome team!
Last bump for rates, then the team goes to Smogon where it gets completely rehashed c:
