I'm going to be posting a good number of team questions. You guys know me well enough to know that the reason for that isn't point whoring, but just to get stuff done with. And I do enjoy making teams. Feel free to answer them when the mood suits you.
Venomoth (M) @ Focus Sash
Trait: Wonder Skin
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Quiver Dance
- Baton Pass
- Bug Buzz
- Sleep Powder
I'll just start off with this. If the foe doesn't have Taunt, then I'm good to go. If they do, well, I'm just going to have to wait for later. usually the foe will start by setting up their hazard. So Sleep Powder puts a stop to that. If it is a more offensive Pokemon, I won't risk it and will start Quiver Dancing right away, then Baton Pass it. All my team benefits from Quiver Dance, although some benefit more than others. Probopass enjoys the Sp Attack and Sp Def, and with enough Quiver dances maybe even Speed. Hitmonlee likes the Speed. Cryogonal likes everything about Quiver Dance, although the Sp Def really only provides protection against Vacuum Wave. yamask only likes the Sp Def. Rotom loves everything about Quiver Dance, just like Cryogonal. Wonder Skin can protect me from Thunder Wave, which is helpful as Ferroseed is one of the Pokemon I'm most hoping to go up against.
Probopass (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Magnet Pull
EVs: 164 HP / 92 Def / 252 SAtk
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Stealth Rock
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Earth Power
- Thunderbolt
Remember how I said I want to go up against Ferroseed? Well, here comes the UU Magnezone. Steels aren't as dangerous, but you still get a few (Ferroseed as I said before). And I can set up Stealh Rock. No STAB attacks, just coverage. HP Fire can take down Ferroseed, Thunderbolt Empoleon, and Earth Power everything else. Flying types who try to take down Hitmonlee do nothing against Probopass. I can also switch it in on Rock type attacks against Cryogonal, then switch in Rotom on the Earthquake, taking down the Rock/likely Ground type with Leaf Storm, while Probopass can also protect Rotom from Ice type attacks. And Ghost+dark attacks on Yamask Probopass can switch in on.
Hitmonlee (M) @ Normal Gem
Trait: Unburden
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Fake Out
- Close Combat
- Rapid Spin
- Rock Slide
We've got Rocks, Steels, Ices, Darks, and a few bulky Normals in UU. Hitmonlee just takes them all down. First takes down Sturdy and Sash with Fake Out, then uses Close Combat. Fake Out activates the Normal gem, which in turn activates Unburden. So I can get a pretty good sweep going. Rock Slide is coverage. Rapid Spin deals with Stealth Rock if I have a free turn.
Cryogonal @ Life Orb
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Ice Beam
- Frost Breath
- Flash Cannon
- Hidden Power [Ground]
I hate Gligar and Cryogonal takes it down with Ice Beam. Flash Cannon and HP Ground are just coverage. Cryogonal doesn't get much, as I find it way too frail for its team support. So I gave it Frost Breath, take down Calm Mind and Stockpile users. Also, there are a good number of Grass types in UU for Cryogonal to take down in addition to Gligar, so it helps out the team with attacking, not screens or whatnot. Levitate also can be used to take Ground type attacks directed at Probopass.
Yamask (F) @ Eviolite
Trait: Mummy
EVs: 252 HP / 120 Def / 136 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Toxic
- Protect
- Attract
- Night Shade
Is there anything better than taking out the ability of a Pokemon? Yamask is a decent enough wall, but the joy comes from Mummy, which I can use to take down guys like Medicham. Fighting immunity helps with Cryogonal and Probopass.
Rotom-C @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 244 HP / 12 Def / 252 SAtk
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Leaf Storm
- Discharge
- Dark Pulse
- Hidden Power [Flying]
This thing is just really powerful with Quiver dance. I might not even have to switch out after using Leaf Storm. This thing has enough bulk so that when it gets the Quiver Dance boosts and starts sweeping it will be hard to stop.
