RATING = 79/100
Burmy:
- Burmy is frail. Even with those EV distributions, 31 IVs in HP, Def and Sp.Def, a beneficial nature and the Evioloite, end off. Normally it would be fine but not on the competitive scene.
- Burmy can't attack for squat with those terrible offensive stats and an abysmal and limited movepool.
I'm pretty sure that this bet involves a successful competitive team with Burmy; so, considering that you can't change Burmy, this is the best you can do with good stat distributions - to make Burmy as defensive as it can be - and a tactic to slow down opponents. Being expendable and having Shed Skin, Burmy is a great switch to take a status-infliction.
Barbaracle:
- Change the EV distribution to 252 Atk, 252 Def, 4 HP if your team is not going to change much as Barbaracle is your only Pokemon that can be reliably switched to in order to take a physical attack.
If your team changes then think about changing some of Barbaracle's move as it has great coverage. Also, its' 4x weakess to grass is covered well by Glaceon, as well as being a good switch to take special attacks, but they are both weak to fighting and the only other Pokemon in your team, with a defensive role, is Burmy who is frail because of its' low stats.
Cacturne:
- Change Drain Punch because Cacturne is frail, even with 252 HP EVs, and so you're better of trading the HP recovery for power. I understand that the HP recovery is negated by the Life Orb which gives the move extra power without drawbacks - so is better than Brick Break and Superpower in this respect - but you have Superpower instead as well as a Choice Band because you will OHKO in a lot of cases. This isn't necessary though as this tactic works well but bear in mind that Cacturne isn't designed to take hits.
- Poison jab can be replaced on Barbaracle or Cacturne, probably Barbaracle because it has a vaster movepool. Barbaracle is, however, 4x weak to grass and Poison Jab would be a super-effective move so you should replace it for Aerial Ace or X-Scissor which give good coverage and are also super-effective against grass type Pokemon. Also consider STAB Razor Shell and Shadow Claw. This is minor however.
You may want to make Cacturne a mixed sweeper instead of Electivire as its attacking stats are similar and those HP EVs are going to do that much considering how long Cacturne's defensive stats are. This will also allow Electivire to make full use of its' high attack stat. Sucker punch is an excellent choice of move as it makes up for Cacturne's inability to be able to outspeed opponents but I would still change him/her.
Electivire:
- You could have Electivire as a purely physical attacker due to its' special attack stat merely being adequate for competitive play. Electivire has a good moveset as it stands with it being slightly unpredictable as a mixed sweeper so instead of taking this surprise aspect away from your team, make another Pokemon you team's mixed sweeper. With this in mind change Thunderbolt and Flamethrower for Dual Chop and Wild Charge.
The idea of a mixed attacker is good and giving this role to Cacturne instead is just a matter of opinion as Electivire is also fitting for this role and would have moves with higher accuracy and without recoil. This really depends on how you change your team.
Glaceon:
- Glaceon has good defensive stats, a naturally good special attack and a low HP so why not invest EVs in HP and Sp.Def and if you want some in Sp.Atk something like 200 Hp, 200 Sp.Def, 108 Sp.Atk [you can see the outcome of EV distribution clearly on Pokemon Database].
- You could change Hyper Voice with Shadow Ball. Hyper Voice is better in double battles and Shadow Ball will give you more coverage (you would be screwed if you went up against a rock or steel type like Bastiodon or Probopass who are both types and have really high defence and special defence).
Glaceon has a good moveset, not completely solid, but understandable as Mirror Coat could wreck opponents with Glaceon's current EV distributions but if it goes then so do your team's ability to take hard special hits so you need those Sp.Atk EVs in HP instead.
Octillery:
- Change Hydro Pump for Surf. This is just a personal preference as Surf has 135 BP - with STAB - so is powerful and has 100% accuracy.
I agree with your choice of Octillery being a special sweeper due to a great special movepool being able to make up for the lack of coverage your team has as well as allowing EV investment in HP but you consider it being your team's mixed sweeper. I would only do this if you change Cacturne – which I think you should - as Octillery is better for this role than Electivire due to having an attack and special attack that are both good. This is unless you change Cactune for a strong physical attacker in which case Electivire's role could be taken on by this new Pokemon allowing it to regain its' surprise element by being a mixed sweeper.
A good alternate for Cacturne would be Crustle which reduces your team's weakness to fire (Burmy, Cacturne, Glaceon) as well as its' weakness to fighting (Barbaracle, Cacturne, Glaceon) and its' water weakness is covered by the rest of your team:
Crustle@Wide Lens/Rocky Helmet
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 Atk, 252 Def, 4 HP
Nature: Adamant (+Atk, -Sp.Atk)
Moveset:
- Shell Smash
- X-Scissor
- Rock Slide
- Flail/Stealth Rock/Aerial Ace/Shadow Claw/Knock Off
Sturdy will ensure that you survive the first turn allowing you to pull off a Shell Smash turning Crustle into a fast physical sweeper with solid defence. You can then proceed to sweep with STAB X-Scissor and STAB Rock Slide (made 99% accurate with the Wide Lens which is good a Crustle will likely die if it misses - unless hit by a physical attack). Your filler move can be Flail, which is made extremely powerful if Crustle survives a normally-OHKO move because of Sturdy, Stealth Rock, which can be used if the opponent doesn't attack you on Crustle's first turn or other attacking moves with makes Crustle a better all-round competitive Pokemon as it can be a Pokemon to switch to to take a physical attack (meaning you might not be able to pull off a Shell Smash) and so you can sweep normally with 3 moves that give good coverage. The Rocky Helmet is an alternate to the Wide Lens because Rock Slide has 90% accuracy so you may think that the Wide Lens are a waste: the Rocky Helmet makes Crustle a better physical wall.
Crustle has the same role as Barbaracle though but this isn't really a problem considering the rest of your team; if you wanted you could change Cacturne for a different Pokemon.
