I'm using this team to Play OU in Showdown. After losing a ridiculous amount of battles, I have finally came up with a team I feel promising. I still lose often, but I win more than I lose now,(I might be wrong) so I think I might keep the majority of this team. Could anyone point out what pokemon I'll have problem facing with this team? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
=== [ou] My "first" team ===
Skarmory @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpD
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Whirlwind
- Brave Bird
- Roost
If the opponent's team requires a lot of cooperation and is has a lack of bulky physical sweepers/ tanks, Skarmory can finish it off single handed while Whirlwinding, and occasionally Brave Bird to wear them down and finish the team off with the aid of Stealth Rock. However, I'm thinking of switching over from Stealth Rock to Toxic. Although Stealth Rock does provide some nice wreckage to talonflame or charizard, I believe poisoning the opponent's team might be better against some more advanced teams.
I'm thinking of replacing it with a Gliscor. Skarmory is weak to electric/ fire, my main weaknesses, which Gliscor resists. Can't decide on how to use Gliscor tho
Infernape @ Life Orb
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Mach Punch
- Fire Punch
- Thunder Punch
- U-turn
My suicidal sweeper lead. I use it often as a lead, since it can wreck opposing water and flying types that are not so bulky or quick enough with Thunder Punch. If I can't do anything with it to the opposing pokemon, I U-turn and save Infernape for later. Its been working great from the start I've been playing Showdown. Sometimes it gets shut down real hard tho.
Scizor-Mega @ Scizorite
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Punch
- Bug Bite
- Swords Dance
- Roost
Scizor comes in usually in the middle section of the game, and if it sets up two sword dances, it starts wrecking EVERYONE. My main sweeper and mega. Bug Bite is because it provides a little more coverage and is more powerful. It often goes down in health b4 I have setup. And I'm just too busy sweeping.
Sometimes I also take in Mega-Diancie for a change...
Diancie@Diancite
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: I literally forgot. I just followed Smogon analysis.
Some nature (+SpE, -Defense)
- Diamond Storm
- Moonblast
- Heal Bell
- Protect
It can sweep really well but gets wrecked by mega drain.
Umbreon @ Leftovers
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Serious Nature
- Heal Bell
- Foul Play
- Wish
- Protect
To take care of those annoying status others throw at my team. Also it can clean up bulky sweepers like Dragonite, Metagross like a boss. That is, if it survives. It can also revive my scizor or Diancie, which I usually am too busy with to use roost. Protect can sometimes prove useful for a free wish, and some other various tactics.
Gyarados @ Leftovers
Ability: Moxie
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Ice Fang
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
In case Scizor gets KOed, Gyarados will try to take over the sweeping role. Once it gets a moxie, it can get unstoppable. Of course, if my opponent doesn't take it out first. Earthquake is for prediction coverage. Ice fang is to take out those garchomps or mega-altarias or dragonites or whatever.
Gengar @ Focus Sash
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Energy Ball
- Thunderbolt
- Dazzling Gleam
My late game suicidal sweeper. Unlike infernape, it sweeps with special moves, which I clearly lack. It has proved itself to be kinda worthy, without it I wouldn't be able to win the late-game. Energy Ball and Thunderbolt are for coverage, and Focus Sash because of its bad defense. I want it to at least get a hit. Dazzling Gleam to kill the dragons and dark types that think they can beat Gengar. Another role of Gengar is to get rid of physical walls that think can outstall my team. It often gets outsped tho and I lose with one mere pokemon, lacking one mere move to win. :(
Main flaws so far:
Starts off wonderful. Nothing wrong. Turning point starts when Umbreon gets stalled out. The trouble starts. I send out Mega-Diancie/ Scizor. It gets OHKO by Giga-Drain or Overheat (or any other fire move) then I send out Skarmory. Fire/ Electric OHKO again. Then Gyarados. OHKO by rock/ Electric move. (Infernape is far dead by now.) Gengar now. I make it close for a comeback, but stealth rocks wreck my plan for focus sash and I get OHKO. Dead.
So, what do you think? Is there anything I'm lacking? Is there any tactics I should consider? I'm still a rookie, so please give me some advice. Pokemon I have problem with so far... Mega Charizard Y, Landorus-T, Ferrothorn, Jolteon, excadrill, Mega-Diancie, mega metagross, mega tyranitar etc. I could possibly take out Skarmory, it can't do much presently except as a Defense Wall, and it gets KOed so easily, so I would kinda like advice on how to deal with the above pokemon I'm having problem with, also I need a wall that can stop comebacks from later games, since it happens very often. Infernape starts off great, taking chunks out of the opposing team, and then Scizor/Gyrados/Mega-Diancie follows up, then Gengar and Umbreon tries to end the game. However, the main problem is that Umbreon needs time to recover with wish, so it often gets killed in the late-game, then the remaining pokemon do a comeback and kills the rest of my team. Possibly what I need most is a wall, that does not get severely wrecked by status.
